Biographical Data

Vanessa Lucas

President

Cost Analyst
D/174 Space Shuttle Main Engine Program

Vanessa has been with Rocketdyne for less than a decade.  She currently supports the Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME) Business Operations Team as a Cost Analyst for Engine Assembly, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Flight Support.  She is also part of the SSME Employee Motivation team that is currently coordinating tours to watch hot fire tests at the Stennis Space Center (SSC).  Before joining SSME, Vanessa briefly served as an Administrative Assistant with the International Space Station (ISS), providing support to the Configuration and Data Management teams.  Her next assignment was an Office Administrator for the RS-68 Development program that merged with the Atlas and RS-27 programs that eventually became the Expendable Propulsion Programs (EPP).  During her stay, the EPP team became akin to her second family who, at times, helped out with class projects and even allowed themselves to be taste-testing guinea pigs to determine if more people preferred See’s vanilla butter cream or Godiva’s vanilla truffle.  Other fond memories include; being awarded Admin of Year and being invited to watch the Delta II GPS IIR-12 Launch.  The Delta II did not launch, but she experienced the trip of her lifetime as they were privileged to up-close tours of the Space Shuttle Discovery and the Delta IV on the launch pad in the heavy configuration.

Vanessa has studied Business Administration at Pepperdine University and Business Management at the University of Phoenix .  She is a member of the Council of Boeing Leadership Association and serves on the Board of Directors as President of the Southern California Valleys Council for the National Management Association.

Vanessa is a native of Hawaii and lives in Santa Clarita , California , with her husband Grant.  They have a daughter and a son.  Her hobbies include baking and watching movies – especially the ones with happy endings.
